As a forward-thinking Database Administrator, you will be at the forefront of a strategic transition, moving from on-premises systems to a modern, cloud-native architecture. You will serve as both guardian and innovator of essential data assets, ensuring their integrity, performance, and security.
Responsibilities:
- Cloud Migration & Architecture: Lead and execute the migration of database systems from on-premises to cloud environments (primarily Azure), ensuring data integrity, security, and optimal performance. Design and maintain advanced cloud database architectures.

- Automation Engineering: Develop, configure, and maintain automation tools and scripts (using Ansible, PowerShell) to standardize and streamline database provisioning, deployment, patching, and administrative tasks. Integrate database management into CI/CD pipelines.
- Performance & Lifecycle Management: Perform routine installation, configuration, and upgrades of database software across on-prem and cloud environments. Proactively monitor, tune, and manage the full software lifecycle of database products.
- Reporting & Intelligence: Develop dynamic dashboards and reports (using Power BI, SSRS, Grafana) to provide actionable insights into database health, performance, capacity, and compliance.
- Multi-Platform Expertise: Maintain and support core Microsoft SQL Server environments while applying foundational knowledge to other RDBMS platforms like Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL as required.
- Backup & Security: Implement and validate robust backup, recovery, and security strategies in alignment with industry best practices for both cloud and on-premises deployments.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Extensive Expertise: Proven, extensive experience as a Database Administrator or Engineer, with deep, hands-on proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server in both on-premises and cloud (Azure) environments.
- Cloud Database Mastery: Demonstrable proficiency with cloud-native database solutions, specifically Azure SQL Database (Managed Instance, Elastic Pools), including deployment, scaling, and management automation.
- Migration & Automation: Proven track record in planning and executing database migrations from on-premises to the cloud. Strong scripting and automation skills in PowerShell and experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Ansible.
- High-Availability Architectures: A strong understanding and practical experience with advanced High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions, such as Failover Clustering, Always On Availability Groups, and log shipping.
- Reporting Tools: Hands-on experience with at least two reporting/BI technologies such as Microsoft Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), or Grafana.
- Desirable Experience and Education:
- Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for ETL processes.
- Professional certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, AWS Certified Database – Specialty).
- Practical experience with other database technologies (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Knowledge of virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience working within an Agile/DevOps framework.
