Senior Kafka Developer

Our client, a leader in the retail and eCommerce industry, is seeking a skilled Kafka System Developer.

You will join an international agile DevOps team working on a large-scale, global tax invoicing platform. The team is responsible for the entire software development lifecycle — from design and implementation to deployment and maintenance. The solution is built using modern, event-driven microservice architecture and leverages a variety of cutting-edge technologies.

This is a hands-on development role with opportunities to contribute to architectural decisions and continuous technology improvement. The team operates in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with close alignment to business goals.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Kafka, Kafka Streams, Spring Boot, and Java/Kotlin.
  • Solid background in event-driven and microservice architecture.
  • Experience with frontend development in Flutter.
  • Proficiency in Kubernetes for container orchestration.
  • Ability to take technical ownership and drive modernization efforts.
  • Familiarity with Neo4j and PostgreSQL is a plus.
  • DevOps mindset and experience working in agile cross-functional teams.
  • Passionate about clean code, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Strong problem-solving and self-management skills.
  • Fluent English

Responsibilities:

  • Take a leading role in solution design and technology modernisation of the application
  • Be part of the Devops team and participate in planning, execution and evaluation of needed work
  • Development of new features and automated tests, both backend and front end (Flutter)
  • Handle support of the solution in existing countries
