Senior Engineer, Network as a Service for NATO with security clearance
Senior escalation point for a large enterprise network — design it, keep it up, automate the repetitive half, and coach the engineers behind you.
This is a senior post on an enterprise network large enough that the interesting problems are not configuration but consequence: what a change does three hops away, why an incident recurs, and which repetitive task should stop being done by hand. It runs from design through daily operations to the moment something breaks badly and you are the one leading the response.
It is also a mentoring role. Junior and mid-level engineers sit alongside you, and part of the job is making them better rather than fixing everything yourself.
What you would be doing
- Design, implement and maintain complex enterprise network infrastructure to CCNP-level practice.
- Run daily network operations, capacity planning, upgrades and lifecycle work.
- Configure, optimise and troubleshoot routing and switching — BGP, OSPF, STP.
- Keep LAN, WAN and data centre networks available, redundant and fast.
- Monitor network health with Splunk and other platforms, and build the dashboards, alerts and reports.
- Analyse logs and telemetry to find risk before it becomes an incident.
- Build automation in Python or Ansible for provisioning, compliance and the repetitive work.
- Lead incident response on critical outages, coordinate stakeholders and restore within the service levels.
- Do the root cause analysis and put the preventive measure in place.
- Act as senior escalation point, mentor engineers, and lead migrations, refreshes and rollouts.
- Keep the documentation, standards and operating procedures accurate.
What you would bring
- CCNP as a minimum — Enterprise or an equivalent advanced networking certification.
- Seven or more years of hands-on enterprise network engineering and operations.
- Strong routing and switching expertise: BGP, OSPF, STP.
- Splunk for monitoring, log analysis and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on knowledge of network monitoring tooling.
- Incident management, root cause analysis and major outage resolution in earnest.
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading projects.
Network automation with Python or Ansible is a strong plus rather than a hard requirement. The work is full time on site in Braine-l'Alleud, and some work outside normal office hours may be needed.
