Audio Visual and VTC Support Engineer — Sicily for NATO with security clearance
Keep the voice and video working for a command that cannot reschedule — VTC at the top table, VoIP on the floor, and the kit packed and ready when an exercise starts.
When a command conference starts, the video either works or it does not, and someone has already made sure it does. That is this role. You would sit inside the operational support team of a communications unit in Sicily, looking after audio and video services end to end: setting them up, configuring them, keeping them ready, and putting them back together after an exercise.
The work is practical and varied — senior-level video teleconferencing one day, voice equipment and line patching the next, and the preparation, deployment and recovery of kit around exercises and operational activity throughout.
What you would be doing
- Prepare, configure and deploy audio and video equipment, and keep it aligned with the approved baseline configurations.
- Set up and manage video teleconferencing, including senior and command-level sessions.
- Install and configure voice equipment over both ordinary and secure networks.
- Set up and tear down projectors and sound equipment.
- Carry out approved endpoint updates and physical line patching to the defined procedures and schedule.
- Handle incidents and service requests promptly and accurately.
- Prepare, deploy and recover equipment in support of exercises and operational activity.
- Keep complete, accurate and auditable records of everything performed and delivered.
- Support other communications service areas within the unit where the work touches endpoint services.
What you would bring
- At least two years hands-on designing, implementing and maintaining core network architecture for large organisations.
- Practical experience with video teleconferencing technologies.
- A sound practical understanding of voice over IP and of IP addressing.
- Comfortable logging and tracking your own work in a service-desk tool.
- Comfort in a structured environment — procedures, processes, checklists and instructions.
- A basic grasp of IT security practice: password handling, access control, safe use of devices.
- The ability to follow and improve documented procedures, and to prioritise when several things break at once.
- Good communication with users and colleagues, and accurate record-keeping.
- Willingness to work on site and, when a project or transition needs it, for extended hours.
- Fluent professional English, around CEFR B2 to C1.
Experience in NATO environments, knowledge of ITIL practice, end-user IT support in an enterprise or operational setting, and good working knowledge of Windows and basic networking are all desirable.
