SATCOM Engineering Support Services for NATO with security clearance
SATCOM engineering support for NATO — UHF and SHF, link budgets, RF and antenna work — 75% off-site, 25% on-site in Belgium, with two option years beyond the base period.
Three quarters of this SATCOM role is off-site. The quarter that is not is in Belgium, working on the satellite links the Alliance depends on.
You will provide SATCOM engineering support across UHF and SHF — link budgets, RF and antenna work, architecture and project proposals — for an international defence organisation, alongside its operational commands.
What you will be doing
- Engineering support across SATCOM systems in the UHF and SHF domains
- Link budget analysis, modulation and coding choices, and satellite network topology work
- RF and antenna engineering, including propagation modelling in SATCOM bands
- Applying SATCOM cybersecurity architecture principles, including encryption and secure communications design
- Building detailed technical project proposals aligned to operational requirements and interoperability standards
- Service management work — incident and problem handling — in an operational or control-centre setting
What you will need
- A degree in telecommunications, electronics or SATCOM engineering with two years of related experience, or higher vocational training with five
- At least three years of practical SATCOM experience across UHF and SHF
- Deep knowledge of SATCOM architecture: link budgets, modulation schemes, error correction coding, network topologies
- Strong RF and antenna engineering, with propagation modelling in SATCOM frequency bands
- Familiarity with DVB-S2 and DVB-S2X, MIL-STD-188, and Software Defined Networking in SATCOM environments
- English at C1
Worth knowing before you apply
- The split is 25% on-site, 75% off-site — genuine flexibility, but the on-site quarter is not optional
- The current site near Brussels closes during 2027; performance moves to Brussels or Mons, so the role expects you to move with it
Practical detail
- Contract engagement, base period starting no later than 1 October 2026 to 31 December 2026, with two option years
- An active security clearance is required for this role
Your CV may not be up to date — that is not a problem, send me whatever you have and I will come back to you either way.
