Cloud Engineer for NATO with security clearance

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer to support the assessment, migration, and ongoing optimization of our organization’s technology infrastructure to cloud-based solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, implementing, and maintaining cloud environments, ensuring alignment with security standards and business objectives.
This position requires a blend of technical expertise and managerial acumen, including vendor negotiation, cross-functional coordination, and clear communication with senior leadership on project progress and outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Working with the IT team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the organization.
Supporting the planning, designing, and developing cloud-based applications.
Managing the cloud environment in accordance with the organization’s security guidelines.
Supporting the deployment and debugging of cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
Leading and developing best practices for a larger cloud engineering team.
Building and designing web services in the cloud
Orchestrating and automating cloud-based platforms throughout the organization.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Mandatory
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering
Three to five years’ experience in a Cloud Engineer role or related position
Relevant training and/or certification as a Cloud Engineer
Experience with Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS) and Active Directory Federation Services (AFDS), PKI, OU structures and Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, Hyper-V, VMWare
Experience with SOA applications and cloud-based services, preferably AWS
Experience working with OpenStack, Linux/UNIX, Rackspace, Docker, and Microsoft Azure
Knowledge of web services, API, REST, and RPC
Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and distributed networks
Desirable
Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering
Certified AWS Solutions Architect, Cloud Security Certification, and/or OpenStack Administrator Certification.
Experience in developing software using languages such as Java and Python
Service knowledge of Windows PowerShell 2.0
Extensive experience with open-source technology, software development, and system engineering.
Database experience, including knowledge of SQL and NoSQL, and related data stores such as Postgres.
Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace.
Interest in Cloud Engineering and its impact on greater business practices.
Skilled at working in tandem with a team of engineers, or alone as required
Previous experience in NATO and knowledge of NATO policies
