Data Scientist for NATO

The Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE) is an established, world-class scientific research and experimentation facility that organizes and conducts scientific research and technology development centred on the maritime domain. Responsibilities:
Analyze and interpret and visualize complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights
Develop predictive models and algorithms to solve business problems and implement data-driven decision-making
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
A minimum requirement of a bachelor’s degree at a nationally recognised/certified University in an information systems, physics or electronics related scientific or engineering discipline, or other relevant scientific discipline, and 2 years post-related experience.
A minimum of 3 years of professional with Statistical Analysis and Machine Learning, with strong foundation in statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques, with practical experience in applying them to real-world problems.
Strong mathematical background with solid understanding of linear algebra, calculus, and probability theory to support model development and evaluation.
Proficiency in data analysis tools with expertise in R, Python, or SQL for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization and relative libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, etc. Experience with data visualization tools with ability to use tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Matplotlib to create insightful visualizations
Professional experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies, Git workflows, code review processes, and collaboration tools (AzureDevOps, JIRA, GitHub, GitLab, etc.)
Understanding of cloud services and infrastructure provided by one or more major Cloud vendor, including data storage and processing capabilities
Understanding of data security data protection aspects
Professional experience of implementing Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) principles in data management practices and understanding of Data Mesh architecture
Good level of spoken and written English
