Project Manager for NATO with security clearance

The Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of medium-complexity projects or sub-projects, from definition and planning through execution and transition into service. Working under the direction of the Principal Project Manager, the incumbent will apply structured project management methodologies to ensure delivery on time, within scope, and on budget. This role involves direct responsibility for project planning, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and team coordination, requiring strong communication and organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
Project management
- Define, document, and execute projects or sub-projects, managing their successful transition into operational service.
- Develop realistic project plans encompassing scope, schedule, quality, risk, and communication, gaining stakeholder agreement on the project approach.
- Track project activities against the schedule, monitor costs, resources, and quality, taking corrective action when tolerances are exceeded.
- Deliver projects under own responsibility according to agreed time, cost, and scope parameters.
- Prepare Project Proposals based on customer requirements and manage the project team to fulfill agreed deliverables.
- Provide regular, accurate status reports and contribute to broader project activities supporting senior project managers.
- Adhere to and execute projects following defined Agency processes and upper management decisions.
Requirements Definition & Management
- Lead scoping, requirements definition, and prioritization activities for medium-complexity initiatives.
- Facilitate stakeholder input, provide constructive challenge, and establish prioritized requirements baselines with formal agreement and traceability.
Risk Management
- Conduct risk management activities within the project, identifying and assessing risks and vulnerabilities.
- Develop effective mitigation strategies and report findings to relevant stakeholders, engaging specialists as needed.
Contract Management
- Act as the routine liaison for contract management between the organization and suppliers.
- Support the collection of contract performance data and generate standard performance reports.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in information systems, physics, electronics, a related scientific/engineering discipline, or another relevant field from a nationally recognized university, plus 2 years of post-qualification experience.
- Alternatively, a demonstrated minimum of 6 years of extensive and progressive expertise in related duties may compensate for the lack of a formal degree.
- A recognized formal Project Management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP). Relevant demonstrable expertise may compensate for this.
- Recent experience (within the last 3 years) in managing C4ISR and/or development projects for a large organization.
- Hands-on experience with Project Management tools for scheduling, cost control, and labor management.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, using tact and diplomacy, with strong briefing skills.
- Desirable Experience
- Prior experience working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements.
- Knowledge of NATO responsibilities, organization, Allied Command Operations (ACO), and Allied Command Transformation (ACT).
