Principal Technician (VTC/AV) for NATO with security clearance

The Principal Technician (VTC/AV) is a senior technical role responsible for the end-to-end planning, execution, and technical support of high-profile digital and hybrid conferences, meetings, and events. Under the direction of the Digital Events Manager, the incumbent will lead technical implementations, manage AV infrastructure and streaming studios, and supervise a technical team to deliver seamless, professional-quality productions. This position requires deep expertise in live event AV technology, streaming platforms, and customer-facing technical leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, write, and execute comprehensive AV implementation plans for digital meetings and events, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and excellent service delivery.
- Set up, configure, and manage the full AV infrastructure, including equipment for streaming, recording, sound mixing, and video production.
- Prepare, manage, and operate a mobile streaming studio, incorporating videowalls, green screens, and professional production systems.
- Develop detailed technical plans and "Run of Show" documents for larger digital and hybrid conferences.
- Instruct, lead, and supervise a team of AV technicians during live event execution.
- Configure and operate PTZ cameras using NDI protocol and utilize video control systems (e.g., Blackmagic) and production software (e.g., vMix).
- Design and create digital assets such as jingles, banners, and digital signage for events.
- Provide first-level support and troubleshooting for customer issues related to conference scheduling, video bridging, and recording.
- Monitor, identify, and diagnose faults in AV/VTC resources and services.
- Deputize for higher-grade staff as required.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline (e.g., Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering).
- Minimum of 5 years of professional AV experience with a strong focus on live sound mixing for events and TV productions.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience delivering live digital/hybrid events on platforms such as Webex, Microsoft Teams, and Skype.
- Proven experience in the setup, configuration, and operation of PTZ cameras using NDI protocol.
- Proficiency with video control systems (e.g., Blackmagic) and live production software (e.g., vMix).
- Demonstrated experience leading a team of AV technicians during live events.
- Ability to configure, install, and troubleshoot industry-standard collaboration hardware and software from vendors like Poly and Cisco.
- A thorough knowledge of English, both written and spoken (as most work is conducted in English). Knowledge of French is desirable.
- Desirable Experience
- Prior experience working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements.
- Knowledge of NATO responsibilities, organization, Allied Command Operations (ACO), and Allied Command Transformation (ACT).
