Network Technician for NATO with security clearance

A proactive and skilled Network Technician is sought for the Communications Systems Unit in Brussels. Operating under the direction of the Head of Network Management, the incumbent will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and performance of the Passive Network Infrastructure (PNWI). This position demands a high degree of initiative, providing first and second-line support for all network cabling systems, troubleshooting incidents, and ensuring seamless connectivity for the Service Centre. The technician will act as the technical lead for cabling activities, supervise external providers, and contribute to the security and efficiency of the network environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide first and second line network cabling support to the Service Centre;
- Perform diagnoses and resolve network cabling incidents and problems;
- Install, move, and change network port patching and network circuit patching;
- Monitor network access layer systems and proactively report and resolve potential network cabling issues;
- Write Standard Operating Procedures to document network cabling systems;
- Operate Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) to support new client installations, moves and changes;
- Provide cabling support during preparation of security assessment setups;
- Act as technical cabling lead for standalone Internet lines and carrier connectivity;
- Supervise and escort external ICT providers;
- Take the technical lead for Passive Network Infrastructure (PNWI) related cabling activities;
- Any other network cabling related duties as required.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with 4 years post-related experience, or a secondary educational qualification with 6 years post-related experience;
- At least 4 years of recent LAN cabling support experience with Passive Network Infrastructure systems;
- At least 4 years of recent CCNA level Access Layer support experience;
- At least 2 years of recent experience with Cisco ISE client devices commissioning and resolving client device issues;
- At least 1 year of recent experience with monitoring Cisco DNAc/CCC or equivalent;
- At least 1 year of recent experience with Cisco Wireless Access Points and related configuration changes;
- Recent experience with DNS and DHCP.
- Desirable knowledge and experience:
- Experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements;
- French language proficiency for communications with external service providers;
- ITIL working knowledge;
- Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements;
- Experience with communication interfacing of Crypto systems;
- Experience with Microsoft IPAM
