SATCOM Static Ground Station Site Engineer with security clearance

To provide dedicated, on-site engineering support for the operational integrity, maintenance, lifecycle management, and compliance of the SATCOM Static Ground Station in Den Haag. The engineer will ensure the continuous technical readiness and mission-critical availability of all station infrastructure—including RF/antenna systems, power, environmental controls, civil/structural elements, and safety systems—in full alignment with NATO standards and host nation regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and troubleshoot the full antenna and RF signal chain, including pointing/tracking systems, modems, converters (Up/Down), LNAs, TWTAs, SSPAs, waveguides, and radomes.
- Oversee structural, civil, and mechanical integrity of antenna foundations, pedestals, radomes, towers, and site drainage systems.
- Manage power and environmental systems, including prime/backup generators, UPS, batteries, HVAC, climate control, and fire suppression to ensure optimal RF performance.
- Ensure full site compliance with host nation electrical codes, HSE standards, safety policies, grounding, and lightning protection requirements.
- Support lifecycle management and obsolescence mitigation by tracking equipment, assessing risks, and planning upgrades or replacements.
- Provide operational and incident response support, including fault diagnosis, corrective maintenance, and liaison with remote engineering teams for issue resolution.
- Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation, including monthly engineering reports, fault logs, maintenance records, configuration baselines, and as-built drawings.
- Support accreditation, audits, and inspections with NCIA Security Authorities and ensure all documentation is stored in relevant repositories (e.g., CMDB).
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: University Degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field, with at least two years of post-related experience or Higher Vocational Training with a minimum of five years of post-related experience.
- SATCOM Expertise: Minimum of three years of practical experience in SATCOM systems, including UHF, SHF, HF and EHF systems.
- Technical Expertise: Familiarity with modern military communication networks, including interfaces, protocols, and experience with SATCOM Operations.
- Customer Service and Incident Management: Experience in service management (incident, problem management, etc.) and a customer-focused approach in a control centre environment.
- Experience in test equipment usage (e.g. spectrum analyser, vector network analyser, oscilloscope, power meter) and ability to automatize measurements using different programs/programming languages (e.g. LabView, Matlab, Pyhton, C).
- NATO Environment: Prior experience working in a NATO or multinational military setting, with a solid understanding of NATO operational standards and protocols.
- Language Proficiency: English: C1
